Important Information

The Embassy of Angola requires that all applicants provide their fingerprints at the submission of the visa application. Upon receipt of your visa application CIBTvisas will:

  • Examine your supporting documents and completed forms to ensure your application is accurate, complete and ready for submission
  • Collect your passport after your visa has been issued

Please keep in mind that the Embassy operating procedure only allows submissions and fingerprinting on Mondays and Tuesdays from 9AM to 1PM; this procedure being recently implemented at the Embassy, please be advised that processing times cannot be guaranteed at the moment

Tourist Travel Requirements for an Angola Visa for Swiss Citizens

  1. Visa May Not Be Required

    Visa exempt for a stay of up to 90 days. The traveller must:

    • Not exceed a stay of 30 days per trip
    • Hold a passport valid at least six months on entry with one blank visa page
    • Hold proof of sufficient funds
    • Hold proof of onward/return airline tickets
    • Hold documents showing proof of purpose of trip
    • Hold all documents required for the next destination
    • Confirm with their airline that boarding will be permitted without a visa as these conditions are subject to change
    For stays of longer than 30 days, a visa is required. The requirements can be found within the CIBTvisas application pack

  2. Passport

    The applicant's actual passport. The passport must: 

    • Have two blank facing visa pages
    • Be valid for one year beyond exit date

  3. Photograph(s)

    You must provide two colour, passport type photographs that meet the following criteria:

    • Be taken within the last three months and printed on high quality photo paper
    • Be taken against an all white background
    • Be 35 mm by 45mm in size
    • Provide the full frontal view of your head with your face centered in the middle and displaying a neutral (non-smiling) expression
    • You may wear neither spectacles nor headwear except for religious purposes
    • Your photos should not be affixed to your application and they may not display evidence of adhesive or staples
    • Be identical

  4. Copy of Passport Identification Page

    A clear colour photocopy of the information page(s) from the applicant's passport

  5. Proof of Employment

    An original letter of employment from the applicant's Switzerland employer. Students must submit a letter with similar content from their college/university. This letter must:

    • Be on company letterhead paper
    • Include the name of the applicant
    • Include the start date and position held in the company
    • Confirm that the applicant is an employee of the company
    • Specify the purpose of journey
    • State the applicant's expected date of leave and return to work date
    • Include the company registration number
    • Be signed by the applicant's supervisor or the company's HR department
    • Be translated into Portuguese by an official translator
    • Be legalised by the local authorities

  6. Proof of Financial Means

    A copy of a recent bank statement showing a minimum credit balance of CHF 50.00 per day of stay

  7. Proof of Travel Arrangements

    A copy of the flight confirmation showing onward/return travel departing from Switzerland

  8. Yellow Fever Certificate

    One copy of yellow fever certificate

  9. Visa Application Form(s)

    One fully completed and signed application form

  10. CIBTvisas Order Confirmation

    For orders placed on the CIBTvisas website, a copy of the Online Order Confirmation which is sent to you via email, must be submitted.


    For all other orders, and where applicable, a completed CIBTvisas Visa Order Form which can be found in the CIBTvisas Application Pack should be submitted.


    Please note that all card payments will only be made upon completion of the visa application process.

Business Travel Requirements for an Angola Visa for Swiss Citizens

  1. Passport

    The applicant's actual passport. The passport must:

    You must provide an original Business Cover Letter from the applicant's Swiss employer. All letters must be printed on company letterhead that displays a Swiss postal address. Use the sample Business Cover Letter provided here to complete your letter.

    All Business Cover Letters must be addressed to the Embassy or Consulate. The address of the diplomatic missions can be found here

  5. Letter of Invitation

    A letter of invitation from the company the applicant is visiting. A copy is acceptable. This letter must:

    • Be translated into Portuguese by an official translator
    • Be legalised by the local authorities
    • Be on company letterhead paper
    • Include the name of the applicant
    • State the purpose of journey
    • State the date of entry
    • Specify the requested number of entries and the length of visa required

  6. Company Registration Document

    A copy of the Angolan Commercial Register (Alvará Comercial)

  7. Proof of Financial Means

    A copy of a recent bank statement showing a minimum credit balance of CHF 50.00 per day of stay

  8. Proof of Travel Arrangements

    A copy of the flight confirmation showing onward/return travel departing from Switzerland

  9. Proof of Paid Taxes

    Copy of the annual tax declaration receipt (Documento de Arrecadacao de Receitas) from the company to be visited in Angola

  10. Yellow Fever Certificate

    One copy of yellow fever certificate

  11. Visa Application Form(s)

    One fully completed and signed application form

  12. CIBTvisas Order Confirmation

    For orders placed on the CIBTvisas website, a copy of the Online Order Confirmation which is sent to you via email, must be submitted.

Angola Visa FAQ

  1. When is the best time to apply for my Angola visa?

    The best time to apply for your Angola visa is 1-2 months before your travel date. However, if you are running short on time, we may be able to process your visa on a faster service at the Embassy’s discretion.
  2. Do I have to send you my passport to get a Angola visa? Is it safe to send a passport?

    Yes. You will need to send your actual passport, not a copy of it. The Angola visa is stamped on your passport and will become one of your passport pages. Visa request cannot be processed without your original passport. Because of the importance of your passport, we strongly suggest that you send your application by a secure method, such as a guaranteed postal service or courier.
